I've spent 25 years in this business, and the work never stops being meaningful. Watching families move through different stages of their financial lives keeps me engaged: building wealth, transitioning into retirement, managing health challenges, passing assets to the next generation. These moments aren't abstract when you sit across from someone trying to figure out how to care for a spouse who just had a stroke or how to fund long-term care without depleting everything they saved. Those conversations matter, and finding strategies that actually work for people in difficult moments defines what this job means.

Finance constantly changes. Tax laws shift, markets evolve, healthcare costs rise, and what worked ten years ago doesn't always work today. I stay ahead of those changes and help clients adapt. Our team often steps in during the hardest moments: a sudden health crisis, an unexpected need for care, complicated family dynamics around inheritance. We put decision-makers in place quickly through powers of attorney, coordinate with estate planning attorneys, and execute financial support when families need it most. That allows them to focus on their loved ones instead of managing paperwork and logistics.

Every client I work with has lived a full life, and I genuinely love hearing their stories. The careers they built, the risks they took, the lessons they learned along the way. Those conversations go beyond background information. They show me what success looks like for each person. Retirement looks different for everyone, and the more I know about what matters to you, the better I can help you get there.

I was born and raised right here in Reno. I grew up enjoying everything this area offers: hunting, skiing, and boating at Lake Tahoe with my family. I went to the University of Oregon, where I met my wife, and we've been married for 25 years. We have two sons. Caleb studies business finance at the University of Arkansas at age 20. Zachary finishes his senior year at Galena High School and hopes to play soccer at the college level next year. Lake Tahoe on a sunny summer day with family and friends makes me happiest. We spend as much time as we can on the water, creating the kind of memories that make everything else worth it.

I've served on the board of Secret Witness for the past 23 years. My father, Don Richter, founded the organization in 1977 to give people a safe, anonymous way to report crimes and help make Reno safer. Since then, we've helped solve thousands of crimes, including over 42 murders. This community has grown considerably in the past two decades, and growth brings challenges. I take pride in carrying on my father's legacy and contributing to a community where families can feel safe.
